
Rebecca Tompkins to Lead Communications Efforts
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Oct. 26, 2010 – SPM Resorts, Inc., a full-service professional timeshare management company, hired Rebecca Tompkins to serve as director of communications. Tompkins comes to SPM Resorts after owning her own firm, Tompkins Marketing Communications, LLC. Prior to that time, Tompkins worked with the technology-enabled marketing firm, Mansell Group, in Atlanta, Ga.
“Rebecca’s experience in public relations, marketing and communications makes her a valuable asset to SPM,” said Bill Young, SPM Resorts, Inc. president and chief operating officer. “We look forward to utilizing her skills and expertise to further SPM’s positive reputation and brand in the timeshare management industry.”
Tompkins’ responsibilities at SPM include monitoring and supporting the overall SPM brand, maintaining SPM’s website, monitoring and managing social media, preparing articles for timeshare magazines and affiliated media, providing support for design and print materials, and more.
As a client services manager at Mansell Group, Tompkins managed complex email marketing initiatives for clients, including email lead generation campaigns. She also conducted brand assessments and wrote brand platforms and marketing communications plans. She oversaw creative strategy to include concept, design and copywriting of print and online projects. Additionally, she led marketing workshops and served as primary client contact for communications projects and day-to-day requests.
Tompkins also worked as a public relations specialist at Henderson Advertising in Greenville, S.C., and in the community relations department at NBC Universal in New York on the public service announcement campaign, The More You Know. She holds a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree from Furman University. She is a member of Leadership Grand Strand Class XXXI through the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
